Состоялась церемония вручения премии Уильяма Хэнди. Ежегодное вручение этой высшей в мире блюза награды прошло в Мемфисе 22 мая. Фаворитами на этот раз стали певица Шемика Копланд, получившая 3 премии, а также исполнитель классического соула Соломон Берк и традиционалист Чарли Мазелвайт – по две. В очередной раз лауреатом в разряде "артист года" назван Би Би Кинг, лучшей блюзовой группой стали Мэджик Слим и его ансамбль "ДеТидропс". Полный перечень лауреатов приведен ниже.
